ABOUT ASHTANGA MYSORE CLASSES

This is a traditional and individual practice where students learn a series of postures at their own pace whilst being supervised and adjusted by a teacher. Although this is a group class each students practice is self led and treated individually by the teacher, allowing each student to slowly work into new postures at their own pace and ability increasing flexibility, stamina and strength over time without risk of injury and creating an ownership of their practice and a deep understanding of their own body.

This method of Teaching mirrors the ancient one-to-one guru-student relationship through which yoga was traditionally passed down from generation to generation. This traditional way of practicing really accommodates all levels from beginners to more practiced students. Unlike led classes Mysore classes are silent and are self guided by the student as they move through the postures they have learnt. Practice time for all students differs this is why the class has a two hour window as it is likely that beginner students will have a shorter practice in the beginning. As this is a self guided class the two hour window also allows you to come and practice for as long or as short as you wish giving you ownership over your yoga practice.
